For three days this week, the talents from the FIA Formula 3 Championship are preparing for the season opener, which will also take place in Bahrain in a week and a half. On Day 1, the fastest time went to Zane Maloney with a 1.47.614. The second day went a little faster. Isack Hadjar posted a 1.47.516 in the morning session, 0.086s quicker than Victor Martins. Jonny Edgar was just over a tenth third, followed by Gregoire Saucy and Juan Manuel Correa. The latter returned to the car after a inconclusive Corona test.
Russian MP Motorsport driver Alexander Smolyar set the seventh fastest time in the morning session, while teammates Caio Collet and Kush Maini were thirteenth and eighteenth. Franco Colapinto was the best driver in Van Amersfoort Racing’s field with 14th place.
In the afternoon, the best time went to Martins with 1.48.250, a good tenth faster than Roman Stanek. Hadjar was back in good form with P3 ahead of Saucy and Smolyar. Collet and Maini also made it into the top ten for MP. Colapinto was again the best VAR driver with P13.
