Red Bull Racing left the United States satisfied, where Max Verstappen clinched his third Grand Prix win of the season. But Sergio Perez wasn’t satisfied after the hectic weekend in Miami. He had the speed, but couldn’t outsmart Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari. He ended up in fourth place and was quite upset about that.
“Miami was a crazy weekend for everyone,” says Perez. “Although Max got the win and I scored important points, I wasn’t completely satisfied. I always want to be on the podium and I had the speed to overtake the Ferraris. I was frustrated that it didn’t work. If I have a consistent weekend in the car, I can also drive up front. Hopefully we can see a repeat of Imola this weekend.”
After the Miami race, Perez and his wife welcomed their third child. “Emilio, a son,” says Perez. “It would be wonderful to welcome him with a wonderful result.” Barcelona hold few secrets, especially since Red Bull have already tested the current car at the track. “We know Barcelona very well and know what to expect, but the car has changed drastically since February. He steers much better now and it will be interesting to see how much we’ve gained since then.”
