All Formula 1 teams have two film days per season to shoot promotional material. As a rule, the first day of shooting is used as a shakedown before the first winter test to uncover teething problems. Ferrari has decided to perform on the second day of shooting tomorrow, Friday May 13th. The scarlet car is driven around the Monza circuit by World Cup leader Charles Leclerc. The Monegask will be in action on the special Pirelli demonstration tires in the morning. The 100 kilometers allowed will be a combination of collecting useful data and taking commercial images.
The chosen date is quite logical. Ferrari will come with a big package of updates during the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix. With this, the team hopes to take a new step and close the gap on rival Max Verstappen. In order to be well-prepared for traveling to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the first data are already being collected in Monza. Leclerc drives with the new parts behind closed doors.
The choice for Monza is also obvious. Ferrari is looking for more top speed. Red Bull Racing currently has the upper hand in this area. The “Temple of Speed” in Monza is the perfect track to test the new package.
