13:28 – Liverpool and Real Madrid face off in the Champions League final from 9pm tonight. The line-ups will be announced more than an hour before kick-off. These 22 players are expected to be on the pitch when the first whistle blows at the Stade de France.
Despite a long and tough season, Jürgen Klopp has an almost fit squad. The German Liverpool coach can thus form the strongest starting eleven. Alisson Becker will be under the bar as usual The Reds† Ahead of him are the central duo Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahim Konaté, although Klopp can also field Joel Matip in place of Konaté. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will serve as windbacks.
In midfield, Klopp has to choose between Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara. The latter was injured in the last round against Wolverhampton Wanderers but appears fit enough to feature. Fabinho and Jordan Henderson will be the other midfielders. Up front in Liverpool there will most likely be places for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz.
Also at Real Madrid there are no players in the basket. There is still a very small question mark behind David Alaba’s name, but everything indicates that the Austrian defender is fit to play. He is likely to form Madrid’s defense alongside Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão and Ferland Mendy. Behind, Thibaut meets Courtois.
Real Madrid’s midfield is packed with experience: Toni Kroos (32), Casemiro (30) and Luka Modric (36) will rule there. Vinícius Júnior, Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde complete the squad. The latter will likely play as a hanging right winger as he’s not a real striker.
Likely Liverpool line-up: Becker; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté/Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Thiago/Keïta, Fabinho, Salah, Mané, Díaz
Estimated line-up Real Madrid: Courtois, Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy; Kroos, Casemiro, Modric, Vinicius, Benzema, Valverde
