April 14, 2022 – The Netherlands did excellent deals for the UEFA coefficient list on Thursday night. Direct rivals Portugal were eliminated entirely, failing to score any (bonus) points after Benfica’s draw earlier this week, while Feyenoord still remains a contender for more coefficient points.
The team from Rotterdam is the best Netherlands club in Europe this season when it comes to coefficient points, because the victory over Slavia Prague and the bonus points for reaching the semi-finals of the Conference League have led to Feyenoord rising above Ajax these ranking. Arne Slot’s team scored a total of 0.600 points on Thursday night, ranking seventh of all European clubs. PSV also had the prospect of at least some of the points for a long time, but ended up empty-handed.

The 0.167 points Benfica added on Tuesday was admittedly a major setback as the Portuguese superpower visited strong Liverpool. However, this setback was offset by the stroke of luck that Giovanni van Bronckhorst brought the Netherlands by eliminating Sporting Braga. No bonus and no more Portuguese teams in Europe: it means the Netherlands can still end up in the semi-finals of the Conference League.
Although France is still far ahead of the Netherlands, relatively good news also came from this competitor. Olympique Lyonnais lost to West Ham United and were eliminated from the Europa League, leaving Olympique Marseille as the last remaining French activist.
